Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) Course
Tanzania, 5-16 October 2015
Presented in English
Fee US$850 (AU$970) (includes tuition, meals and transport to site visits)
Following the success of our previous PDCs in 2012, 2013 and 2014, foodwatershelter (fws) is pleased to offer you the chance to join us in Arusha for this wonderful learning opportunity led by Jeff Reidl with guest teachers Janet Maro of Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania, Nicholas Syano of Permaculture Research Institute-Kenya and Nyumbani Village. Two weeks of intensive learning, an incredible networking opportunity, and an internationally recognised qualification.
You’ll gain hands-on permaculture design experience through Kesho Leo’s farms and other projects in the Arusha region, while sharing this experience with a diverse group of the international community; from farmers to NGO workers, teachers to lodge managers. Permaculture is a framework for working towards greater sustainability and self-reliance. These principles underpin the Kesho Leo systems and, not only work to meet the needs of Kesho Leo’s residents, but also provide opportunities for community education and income generation.
Some of the topics that will be covered during the course include:
- rainwater harvesting
- dry-land strategies
- regenerative agriculture
- appropriate technology
- soil erosion control,
- livestock management
- land restoration
- kitchen gardens
- food security
- and much, much more!
Throughout this PDC course you will learn hands-on from our livestock, organic vegetable gardens and aquaculture ponds, food forests and poultry systems, compost toilets and rainwater harvesting systems; all while supporting the promotion of self-reliance within Africa.
