skills & requirements

  • Excellent writing and subediting skills to ensure the fws projects sound as forward-thinking, energetic, original, fun and all-encompassing as they are.
  • Some website & IT skills (not extensive - just enough to work your way around our website).
  • Ability to work to set own goals and to meet them.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, even when other people’s input is required (this doesn’t concern you because you plan for other’s input to take time when you set your original goals).
  • Initiative to source the information you need for the website, and to fact-check along the way.
  • Ability to work with a number of fws volunteers, particularly the fws Website Subeditor, fws Subediting Manager, and fws Communications Manager, to ensure the information detailed in fws communications is accurate, up-to-date and meets fws style requirements.
  • Exceptional eye for detail – don’t tell readers on one webpage that fws is supporting ‘house-mamas’ and then tell them on another webpage that our ‘house mothers’ are important employees.
