fws's volunteer village has been designed to provide comfortable and safe living conditions for our dedicated volunteers, while being sensitive to the local environment.
The systems we've created here mean we can lead by example within the
local community, being sustainable in our use of resources.
When our
neighbours and staff see our volunteers using compost
toilets (pictured below) and drinking rainwater, it greatly increases their acceptance
of these relatively foreign concepts.
Combine
this with organic domestic gardens, bucket showers and other
sustainable living techniques, we’d like to think that our volunteers
return home more educated and understanding of the world around them.
