volunteering with fws because
I'd looked for several years for an organisation to volunteer overseas with that would give me not only professional development opportunities, but also fitted with my framework and principles of working with people. After volunteering in Tanzania in 2009 I fell in love with the people, the framework and the project that fws is. Now I'm back home, I want to continue to be a part of this great team.
fws title
Social Welfare Manager, Australia
responsibilities (in a nut-shell)
- Helping to develop evidence based social welfare programs, interventions and concepts for fws;
- Working closely with our Tanzanian-based Social Welfare Manager to provide support; and
- Reporting back to our fws board what’s happening social-welfare-wise in Tanzania.
favourite thing about fws
That there are so many highly motivated, incredibly amazing and intelligent people doing their little bit in fws and that together they make such huge outcomes for real people.
my day job
I am a social worker who works in researching and developing youth justice programs.
passions
- travelling and spending time with my gorgeous fiance
- anything outdoors
- it's cliche, but I love- and have always loved- my jobs. I have always felt so privileged to work with people who want to make positive changes to their lives and I find it so exciting to see when that happens. I get a lot of energy from that.
