position purpose

The role of the fws Treasurer is to provide financial advice and information to the Board, ensure fws complies with all financial responsibilities, report to the Board on all financial matters and assist with decision making and strategic direction.

responsibilities

  • Advise the Board on fws financial position each month.
  • Ensure fws complies with statutory obligations.
  • Review bank reconciliations (fws admin, fundraising, Kesho Leo and Rotary).
  • Coordinate annual budget process.
  • Ensure cash flow is managed efficiently and reported to Board.
  • Review and consolidate Australian and Tanzanian accounts using MYOB.
  • Manage and review the work of the fws Accountant on a monthly basis.
  • Review and analyse month end financial reports and report fws financial position to Board each month.
  • Prepare payments and funds transfers using cheque and online payments.
  • Manage and maintain fws bank accounts and insurance policies.
  • Liaise with auditor.
  • Maintain and distribute reconciliation of funds sent to Rotary and Kesho Leo (both specific-purpose and general-purpose funds).
  • Maintain, educate and reinforce policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare and coordinate financials for business cases for new initiatives.
  • Support Grants Team to submit grant applications and reports.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and annual Charitable Fundraising submissions.
  • Communicate with Rotary, key fws volunteers, including Kesho Leo Manager, KL Finance Manager and fws Accountant.
  • Support and assist fundraising activities, procedures and controls.

  • Accurate and timely reporting of financial performance and position to Board.

skills & requirements

  • Bookkeeping or accounting qualifications.
  • Good ability to use Microsoft Excel and MYOB preferable.
  • Well developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Support the broader fws vision by offering input where relevant.
  • Understand and adhere to the values of fws, as outlined on fws website.
  • Desire to be make a difference while contributing to a fun but dedicated group of volunteers.
