fws Programs Manager

position purpose

The role of the fws Programs Manager is to coordinate the planning, execution and delivery of Kesho Leo children’s village programs according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of fws-Australia and fws-Tanzania team members to deliver programs according to the fws strategic business plan and fws program proposals. The fws Programs Manager will also assist in defining each of the program’s objectives.

responsibilities

  • Work with fws-Australia and fws-Tanzania to create fws program proposal briefs, including seeking board approval
  • Work with fws-Australia and fws-Tanzania to establish and/or continue to execute the approved programs within the guidelines of the approved program brief, and revise as appropriate
  • Assure overall direction and integrity of the program remains consistent with fws principles
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated
  • Work with fws funding programs manager and fws treasurer to deliver monthly reports to the fws board and stakeholders and the program leaders in Tanzania, detailing the current and predicted funding status for each program
  • Be responsible for program administration, including close liaison with the fws treasurer and the fws funding programs manager
  • Ensure program documents are complete, current and filed appropriately
  • Ensure familiarity with the program budget and tracking of costs
  • Trouble-shoot potential sustainability issues for programs in a timely manner and where appropriate, escalate concerns to the fws board

key performance indicators

  • Receive weekly program updates from program leaders
  • Send a weekly update of program developments to the fws president, fws funding programs manager and fws treasurer
  • Send a monthly program update to the fws board
  • Ensure program timelines are met once agreed by the program leader and/or fws board
  • Work with the fws funding programs manager to ensure that program leaders receive weekly updates on the current and predicted funding status of their programs.

skills & requirements

  • Strong ability to analyse programs’ efficacy and adherence to fws philosophy
  • Manage own time and resources, setting and meeting own goals
  • Prioritise workload in liaison with fws president
  • Participate in relevant training and learning activities
  • Attend relevant fws internal meetings
  • Understand and apply fws policies and procedures
  • In addition to the already mentioned duties, the position holder is encouraged to carry out any other duties which he/she is reasonably asked to undertake
  • Excellent written communication skills to work with fws volunteer teams and service providers
  • Innovative, creative approach to problem-solving
