Fantastic news - the time has come to kit out Kesho Leo children's village!

Help our mamas and children get comfy in their new surrounds by ticking off some of the following basic necessities.

Kit out Kesho sleeping bomas

Beds & mattresses

• $380 to buy beds & mattresses for one kesho family (house mama and five children), or
• $95 to buy a bed & mattress set for one kesho resident

Pillows cushions

• $60 to buy pillow cushions for one kesho family (house mama and five children), or
• $10 to buy one pillow cushion for one kesho resident

Blankets

• $720 to buy blankets for one kesho family (house mama and five children), or
• $20 to buy one blanket for one kesho resident

Mozzie nets

• $25 to buy mozzie nets for one kesho family (house mama and five children), or
• $5 to buy one mozzie net for one kesho resident

Curtains

• $40 to buy material and pay a mama to make curtains for her own kesho family (house mama and five children)

Concertina wall

• $100 to buy materials to make one concertina wall shared by two kesho families (two house mamas and ten children)

Laundry baskets

• $160 to buy 28 laundry buckets for the all the kesho families

Laundry clothes line

• $50 to buy 200m of wire to create clothes line to be shared by all kesho families

Compost loo bins

• $1500 to buy all 60 compost bins needed, or
• $25 to buy one compost bin

Compost loo buckets & scoops

• $48 to buy 8 loo wash buckets & scoops plus 8 loo sawdust buckets & scoops

Shower buckets & scoops

• $30 to buy 10 shower buckets & scoops
   

Kit out Kesho’s communal kitchen & dining area

Dining tables & bench seats & serveries

• $180 to buy one dining room table and its bench seats
• $400 to buy two mobile serveries

Kitchen benches, sinks & cupboards

• $150 to buy a kitchen sink. We need four
• $150 to buy steel rod & hooks for overhead pot storage
• $600 to buy all the kitchen benches & cupboards needed
• $1,500 to kitchen benches & cupboards needed for kitchen’s coolroom
• $1,500   to buy kitchen benches & cupboards needed for kitchen’s dry storeroom
• $1,200 to buy the kitchen benches & cupboards needed for the kitchen’s food prep room
• $20 to buy stepladder for kitchen

Kitchen cooking system fittings

• $1,200 to buy stove elements for biogas cooking system  
• $160 to buy 8 brisket ceramic jikos (local cookers)

Kitchen cookware & dinnerware  

• $100 to buy cookware (pots, pans, cooking utensils etc) for one kesho family (house mama and five children)
• We’re hoping to have eco-friendly bamboo plates donated to cover our dinnerware needs. We need 96 plates, 96 bowls, 96 cups! If you have any eco-friendly bamboo dinnerware items to donate, please email Naomi.Edison@foodwatershelter.org.au
• $10 to buy cleaningware (buckets, broom etc) and tupperware (containers for storing food etc) for one kesho family (house mama and five children)

 

Kit out Kesho’s reception area

• $200 to buy a reception desk
• $100 to buy shelving
• $300 to buy a filing cabinet and files
• $450 to buy a laser-jet printer (to be used by Kesho’s early learning & community education centre)
• $10 to buy curtains and a door mat
• $200 to cover set-up stationery needs
• $120 to buy an ergonomic chair
• $30 to buy a bench chair for waiting visitors

 

Kit out Kesho’s early learning & community education centre

• $5,000 to cover set-up education resources (local text books, exercise books, pens, pencils, posters, crayons, etc)
• $1,800 to buy desks and bench seating
• $600 to buy shelving

 

Kit out Kesho’s eco-power supply – solar energy!

• $28,000 to cover solar energy for lighting, computers and future internet use
