Food Water Shelter

There's nothing like some healthy competition to bring two schools together and build new frienships. This past week it proved the perfect recipe for success as 150 eager students from Engosengiu Chekechea and Kesho Leo Chekechea came together for the ultimate team sports day.

In their colour coded teams of 12, comprising students from both schools and aided by a chekechea teacher or fws volunteer, these eager littlies got into action and set their hearts and minds on conquering exotic challenges such as the limbo, ten pin bowling and walk the plank.

Some of the smaller participants may have needed a helping hand but never fear for teachers and volunteers are here! In matching team colour co-ordination, cheers of encouragment a-plenty and warm up routines to boot there was no doubting every member of the Activity Day Entourage was commited to victory and team work.

Despite some initial sprinkles from the gods of the sky and with some helping hands from the students of Edmund Rice Secondary School this expertly organised event went off without a hitch - with special thanks to fws education manager Carmody Forbes and Tanzanian Teacher Lucas Mayoba.

To bring the morning to a crowd pleasing finale, a series of relays – ranging from the more simple backwards run and forwards hop to the challenging 'loop the worm' – really put the finishing touches to these new found friendships. We'll let the pictures speak for themselves but suffice to say there's nothing like a group hug to solidify a friendship born of team work and rewarded with their very own certificates.

With this Engosengiu-Kesho Leo partership in full swing who's to say what exciting adventure lay around the corner?
