My past experience working with refugees as a distributor of food and non-food items with Red Cross Tanzania inspired me to do further work with an NGO which deals with humanitarian issues and provides health, social welfare and education to the community.

Kesho Leo Community Development Officer

responsibilities

Working with Karen for health support to mamas and children of Kesho Leo, working along with Bec teaching mamas about budgeting and maths, liaising with people in the community, researching education opportunities for our workers, teaching Kiswahili to the volunteers, and also will be working on the outreach program along with a volunteer social worker in the future.

favourite things about fws

How fws provides skills to the mamas, for example sewing, the establishment of pre-primary education as well as the establishment of the health clinic. Also, the introduction of organic farming in the community and teaching the disadvantages of conventional farming, such as the use of chemicals in farms to kill pests.
