Our next big permaculture design project is our commercially viable organic farm. While it's nice to suggest that people should farm
organically - if it
isn’t profitable, then a subsistence farmer is hardly going to join the
party!
Our one-hectare site (aerial view below), connected to our volunteer village, will be developed to meet many of our commercial needs. It will also provide locally suitable options for our neighbours who wish to learn about organic options that can be used on a commercially viable scale.
We are looking at large scale organic gardening options, alley cropping, agroforestry, aquaculture, and possibly other more innovative ideas such as silk worm and honey production.
We’ll keep you posted on the development of this farm. In the meantime, we welcome your ideas!
