c2s logoHave you been looking for the perfect way to put your legs and lungs to the test and show your support for the residents and employees of Kesho Leo children’s village?
Could 2011 be the year of the run, walk, skip or pram push for you, your family or friends?
The dedicated volunteers of fws are gathering participants from near and far to put together our very own team to tackle the world’s largest run on August 14, 2011.

From the corner of Park and College Streets in Sydney’s CBD, through the King’s Cross tunnel, Rose Bay and up the monstrous but exhilarating ‘heartbreak hill’ this unstoppable team will run, jog, walk and push. Then with the first half under their belts they will meander down a picturesque Military Road to the glory of the finish line.

Whether you plan to make the 14km journey from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach in spirit or in person – do it knowing that you’re helping the mamas and kids on their own inspiring journeys to bigger, brighter futures.

meet the team

The Currently registered fws athletes are:

1.   Kerry Renshaw - is the treasurer of fws and thought the c2s would be a fun challenge. I'm not looking forward to heartbreak hill - and I'm hanging to cross the finish line for the kids at kesho - it just may not be in the first few contesters...

2.   Nick Renshaw - can't wait for the c2s after being signed up by his wife unknowingly - but is happy to have a goal and run for the mamas. Being the treasurer's husband has its upsides sometimes!!

3.   Andrew Fisher - is a supreme athlete and supremely delighted that being a personal trainer means getting others to do the hard yards for him. But he’s happy to strap on his speedy sneakers and go the distance to give the kids and mamas of Kesho a much-needed helping hand.

4.   Janie Albert - is a mum, journo and wife to personal trainer Andrew Fisher who has bribed her into running the c2s in return for sleep-ins. Then again anything that helps the kids and mamas of Kesho have a shot at decent education and clean and safe housing sounds A-OK to her.

5.   Lance King - would prefer to do the city to sheaf (so please close the doors as he flies past) but the bribery of a few cool beers at the end has encouraged him to delay the beers for the cause. He's bought the gear - and decided to swap the booze for the shoes! Watch him though...

6.   Glenn Ryan - is a builder in Sydney and has decided to take on the c2s challenge with not one ounce of running training - he is hoping his cross fit training will pull him across the line. Lets cheer him on FWS...

7.   James Davis - the dark horse of the bunch (and a pom). Having finished the City2Surf last year with 2 months training, he finished in record time and then hung up his runners for another year. They reappeared when faced with this year's challenge about 2 weeks ago. Go james, go...

8. Daria Bodzak -
is very excited to be running her first City2Surf and at the same time raising money for foodwatershelter. She has brought her running shoes out of a very long retirement so she'll be looking forward to the fws team cheering her on at the finish! Go Daria Go!

9. Karen Champlin - is very excited to be in the fws City2Surf team. Karen will be thinking of the inspirational people that she knows at Kesho Leo and in the Sinon community as she tackles heartbreak hill and hopefully makes it over the line!

10.   YOU!

The training begins – Janie, Andrew and Kerry get their gear ready...
