position purpose
The Australian-Based Volunteer Recruitment Officer is responsible for human resource planning, recruiting, selection, training and recognition of all volunteers working for
fws in Australia.
responsibilities
- Receive application emails from volunteer applicants.
- Ensure reply to applicants, asking them to fill in the Volunteer Application Form (link to website) and to return it with their CV, promoting the link to fws’s
gimme shelter e-newsletter to all volunteers, increasing its circulation.
- Keep the Australian-based Volunteer Register current by adding applicants and their details regularly, and filing on the fws network (currently Google Docs).
- Maintain an up-to-date contact list of all fws Aust-based volunteers (currently on Google Docs).
- Ensure all volunteer applicants’ CVs and PDs are filed on the fws network (currently Google Docs).
- Sift through applications and identify the most suitable applicants based on CVs, experience and other criteria.
- Within three days after Application Closing Date, supply fws member who identified volunteer vacancy with the CVs and Volunteer Application Forms of the most suitable applicants.
- Respond to unsuccessful applicants, and encourage them to apply for similar/suitable positions if appropriate.
- Coordinate with the successful applicant, their introduction into fws, ensuring they receive an fws Volunteer Welcome Pack – containing relevant communication including the Volunteer Handbook, fws Organisation Chart, fws Contact List and relevant Position Description PDF.
key performance indicators
- Ensure all volunteer applicants receive excellent, friendly service and assistance from fws from initial contact through to final contact.
- Ensure outstanding fws Australian-Based positions are filled in a timely manner.
- Continually identify ways and systems to improve volunteer recruitment process.
- Maintain a robust HR filing system.
- Ensure successful Aust-based volunteer applicants are facilitated to begin their job by receiving the fws Volunteer Welcome Pack.
- Produce a monthly report showing all volunteer contacts, feedback, thank you messages, etc.
