Job Description

The fws Annual Report Subeditor will work alongside the other fws subeditors to support the fws Subediting Manager to create and maintain a fws communications style guide.

That done, the fws Annual Report Subeditor will work with the fws Board  and Kesho Leo Managers (using newly created fws communications style guide) to subedit fws' annual reports.

The purpose of this is to ensure that all language in fws annual reports is  to fws-style and that the annual reports deliver an exciting rundown of fws' events over the year, both in Australia and Tanzania.

The fws Annual Report Subeditor will work to ensure that all the information going out to fws supporters and funders, via our annual reports, is 100% thrilling and correct.

The fws Annual Report Subeditor will work to the deadlines outlined by the fws Board and the fws Subediting Manager, ensuring that this important  document is subedited within the time-frames outlined.

Term

We need you to stay for 5 years.

Seriously! We just really want one subeditor who commits to doing this job once a year for us, for five years.

Location

From home.

Skills

  1. Excellent writing and subediting skills to ensure the fws projects sound as forward-thinking, energetic, original, fun and all-encompassing as they are.
  2. Subediting skills that transfer to manipulating Word and Indesign programs - most of our reports will be done in word, but some will be done in Indesign program.
  3. Subediting skills that ensure your Indesign document "looks" great visually - no point fws having gorgeous designs, if there are widows, kerning and soft return dramas all over the shop!
  4. Ability to work to set goals and meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to work with a number of fws volunteers, including the fws Subediting Manager, fws Board, Kesho Leo Managers and fws Graphic Designers to ensure the information detailed in any fws communication is accurate and up to date.
  6. Exceptional eye for detail – don’t tell readers on one report page that fws is supporting “house-mamas” and then tell them on another report page that our “house mothers” are important employees.

Requirements

  • Access to the Indesign program.
