fws prefers to spell out, in full the words Street, Avenue, Boulevard, Drive, Alley, Road, Terrace, etc for consistency and to adhere to our adoption of "open" style punctuation.

In business letters, fws uses "open" style punctuation which means that all copy is aligned to the left of the page with no indents at the beginning of paragraphs and that minimal punctuation and no abbreviations are used in the date lines, address block, salutations, attention lines, subject lines, complimentary close and signature.


In keeping with these, envelopes are addressed in the "open" style punctuation.
