position purpose
fws is in search of short-term volunteers (2 months onwards), who can provide invaluable support to other Kesho Leo volunteers and staff in making sure things run smoothly - as well as offering new skills, inspiration and ideas.
The specific skill-sets we are looking for change over time, but right now we are looking for people to take up short term volunteer roles in a number of areas (listed at the top of this page).
If you are a self-motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic individual (or couple) with a passion for making a difference...then there may just be the perfect short-term role for you.
Short-term positions are available for experienced teachers to help out in the Kesho Leo early learning centre, after-school tuition sessions, or in our adult education classes. Short-term volunteers work alongside our local Tanzanian teachers and the fws Education Manager.

We’ll need you to commit to a minimum of 2 months (to ensure continuity) with the option of staying on for up to 6 months, if you’ve got the skills we currently need.

Teaching - Experience in bilingual teaching, early learning or adult education desirable.
Teaching qualifications and experience in a variety of educational settings.

Administration - Computer efficiency in the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel.

All roles - Flexible, open-minded and able to adapt to changing and often challenging situations while living in Tanzania.

Excellent communication skills to assist in working with a broad range of staff including English and non-English speaking Tanzanians and international volunteers.

An ability to work as part of a diverse team, yet be independently driven when required.

Effective problem solving and organisational skills.

Cross-cultural understanding and a desire to learn Kiswahili, the local language.

Experience working in a developing country is an advantage.

An understanding and passion for the values that drive
