The
fws OS-based Volunteer Coordinator supports the
fws OS-based Volunteer Manager to create and build a strong and effective team of fantastic
fws OS-based volunteers.
This ripper of a role involves contributing to human resource planning, recruitment, selection, training, and recognition of our overseas-based volunteers’ awesome achievements.
The
fws OS-based Volunteer Coordinator works as part of a small but dedicated team, to help manage and expand the inspiring team of volunteers contributing to
fws projects overseas (OS).
responsibilities
- Develop tools required to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment and selection process in line with fws policy and procedure.
- Identify, develop and implement initiatives to ensure best HR practice is conducted at all times in relation to the recruitment and selection of the Kesho Leo team.
- Ensure performance management of Kesho Leo volunteers is conducted in line with fws policy and procedure.
- Continually recognise and identify areas for improvement and work with the OS-based volunteer team and the wider HR team to address them.
- Advertise approved roles in relevant areas, including the fws website, fws e-newsletter
gimme shelter, volunteer websites, newspapers etc.
- Conduct short-listing of the most suitable applicants for OS-based volunteer positions based on CVs, experience and other criteria.
- Support the fws OS-based Volunteer Officer in setting up and conducting interviews and reference checking of applicants for vacant Kesho Leo roles.
- Ensure appropriate compliance in relation to reference checks and police checks prior to deployment of OS-based volunteers.
- Support volunteers through the deployment process to undertake their overseas posting.
- Ensure regular communication with all OS-based volunteers and deal with any enquiries or issues as appropriate.
- Promote the link to fws’s e-newsletter
gimme shelter to all OS-based volunteers, increasing its circulation.
key performance indicators
- Support the OS-based Volunteer Manager to ensure outstanding fws OS-based volunteer roles are filled in a timely manner.
- Support the wider HR team to develop a volunteer HR management tool, and report regularly to the OS-based Volunteer Manager on volunteer concerns, developments, feedback etc.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a simple performance management strategy to maximise OS-based volunteer output.
- Help implement and maintain a robust HR filing system.
- Finalise Position Descriptions for all fws OS-based roles.
