AIDS & HIV

AIDS is an acronym for acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Some organisations have started using the term with an initial captial, Aids, but fws uses block capitals.

HIV is an acronynm for the human immunodeficiency virus which may lead to AIDS.

People who have HIV may not have AIDS and might never develop it, so these terms are not interchangeable. Use carefully.
